3 Life-Tips from Russ Price - Executive Protection Specialist and Former Royal Marine

The following skills and my 42 years as a Shotokan Karate Practioner have allowed myself to hone, culture and specialise through those experiences to be one of the best in my field and mitigate potential threats when needed.

The difference between myself and other security personnel is quite simple: one looks after material assets that can be replaced and insured. My job, as a close protection specialist, is a life that cannot be replaced.

1. MINDSET

You don’t get in life what you want, you get in life who you are!

Hard skills get the job. Soft skills get you paid. That comes with life experiences.

Engaging with a myriad of different people, cultures, and mannerisms, dining with kings and paupers is, and still is, a valuable asset in my lifetime.

Needs to be taught and experienced in every generation: engaging and assimilating with people - a trait that is becoming almost non existent today.

2. PRACTICE OQP (ONLY QUALITY PEOPLE)

Tell me who your friends and crew are, and I’ll show you your future.

Again through experience and sufferance can we truly find our tribe.

3. DEVELOP YOUR COMMUNICATION SKILLS

The minute you open your mouth you're telling the world who you are.

_ _

Mindset is a discipline. Do the things you need to do, like you love it, and it becomes a habitual exercise that will make you a cut above the rest.
